We believe barbeque is an art form. It has to be. Any artist worthy of their title spends countless hours pouring over their canvas or perfecting their melody until it is a thing of beauty. We compose our masterpiece in smoke and spice bringing you delicious barbeque worthy of the title, “Kansas City.”
We draw our inspiration from our heartland roots, and from the perfect side dish to a mouth-watering slab of ribs; toe-tapping jazz and soulful blues.
Historically, Kansas City provided the perfect culinary melting pot for barbeque, bringing together Texas beef and southern pork. The marriage of smoky flavors was both spicy and sweet, and all it needed was a stage. During the 1930’s and 40’s, the streets of 18th & Vine in the heart of Kansas City provided the stage for jazz and barbeque greatness. Appearing nightly on the 18th & Vine scene included an encyclopedia of jazz history with the likes of Count Basie, Lester Young, Mary Lou Williams, Duke Ellington, and KC’s own swingin’ son Charlie Parker. Barbeque, cooked low-and-slow became the entrée of choice for all-night jam sessions.
Inspired by a gallery of jazz and barbeque artistry, we present to you 18th & Vine Barbeque, a delicious work of art, served with a side of old KC.
